Paul Reese
Head Musician

Offered the choice between violin and piano lessons at the age of six, Paul Reese began his musical studies with the violin, launching a lifelong pursuit of music and beauty. In addition to formal lessons, Paul’s family sang together daily in the home throughout his school years, cultivating a deep love for hymnody and the formative power of music in the Christian life.

After taking up piano in middle school and organ in high school, Mr. Reese directed his first
children’s choir as a senior in high school. He went on to earn bachelor’s degrees in Organ and Bible from Philadelphia Biblical University and a Master of Music in Organ Performance from Westminster Choir College.

Following his graduate studies, a local headmaster unexpectedly invited Mr. Reese to teach fifth grade at a newly established classical Christian school. Inspired by the rich vision of classical Christian education and eager to unite truth, goodness, and beauty in the lives of students, Mr. Reese embraced this calling wholeheartedly. This path eventually led him to serve as Music Director at Veritas Academy in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Currently serving as Associate Director of Music at St. Philip’s Church alongside his work at St. Philip’s Academy, Mr. Reese has also held church music positions in the greater Philadelphia area and in Charleston, South Carolina.

At St. Philip’s Academy, Mr. Reese has asked to be called “Head Musician,” reflecting his
conviction that, in keeping with the biblical call to make music unto the Lord, every member of the school community is a fellow musician. His desire is to cultivate students who are tuneful, beautiful, and artful, equipping them to spend a lifetime praising Jesus Christ and worshiping the Father with heart, soul, mind, strength, and voice.

In addition to his ministry and musical endeavors, Paul is married to Trisha, and together they have a son, Paul Frederick IV, and a daughter, Penelope Rose. Paul also enjoys the building arts and nearly always has a house project underway. The Reese family can often be found enjoying the beaches and natural beauty of the Charleston coast.
