Dorothy Jones
Third Grade Teacher

Dorothy Jones is overjoyed to be named Third Grade teacher for St. Philip’s Academy. Ms. Jones holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Hollins College and a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of South Carolina. Since 1996, she has counted it a profound privilege to teach within a distinctly Christian worldview, confessing Jesus Christ as the fountain of all wisdom, righteousness, and truth.

In the classroom, Ms. Jones seeks not only to instruct the mind but to shape the affections, guiding her students toward that which is good, true, and beautiful. She is committed to cultivating in them both intellectual discipline and spiritual attentiveness, encouraging them to recognize their inherent dignity as created in the image of God. Through thoughtful dialogue and the careful study of ideas, she fosters an environment in which students are invited to wonder, to inquire, and to pursue truth with humility and courage.

Ms. Jones’s love of learning is enriched by her experiences beyond the classroom. She has participated in mission work across the globe, including in India and China, and spent two years in Prague, Czech Republic, serving on a church planting team. These experiences have deepened her understanding of the universal Church and inform her desire to help students see their place within God’s greater story.

Raised on Hilton Head Island alongside her three younger sisters, Ms. Jones remains closely connected to her family. Her parents now reside in Bluffton, South Carolina, and she delights in visiting them often. She is a devoted aunt to seven nieces and two nephews. Ms. Jones resides in Mount Pleasant with her beloved Springer Spaniel, Mia, and on Saturdays they may often be found walking along the shore, enjoying the beauty
of God’s creation.
