David Wright

David is a retired businessman. He earned a B.A. in History and a M.B.A from the University of Texas at Austin. He served as a commissioned officer in the Army, founded and sold an oil and gas exploration company, and was an investment banker and a partner in a merchant banking firm. He held Series 7, 63, 27, and 79 security licenses. He is excited about St. Philip’s Academy because education isn’t just about filling a student's head with information—it’s also about forming their heart, soul, and mind. At the Academy Christ is at the center of learning and development. Students will be taught how to think, not just what to think and they will be shaped by the timeless virtues of courage, humility, perseverance, and love of truth. David is a long-time member of St. Philip’s Church where he currently serves as Senior Warden. He is an avid sporting clays shooter.
