Cynthia Patteson
First Grade Teacher
Cynthia Patteson is delighted to assume the role of First Grade teacher at St. Philip’s
Academy, bringing with her eighteen years of devoted service in early childhood
education in independent schools. For the past fifteen years, she has developed and led
a rich social studies curriculum for early childhood learners, introducing young minds to
the foundations of geography, culture, and the broader world. She finds deep joy in
nurturing a love of learning through story, wonder, and the discovery of God’s created
world and looks forward to continuing this joyful pursuit with her students at St. Philip’s.
Holding both undergraduate and graduate degrees in design, Ms. Patteson began her
professional journey as an adjunct professor of Art History following a career in the field
of architecture and design. Her early vocation also included service in campus ministry
abroad, where she cultivated a lasting appreciation for language, culture, and Christian
witness. This enduring interest has recently led her to pursue a Master’s Certification in
TESOL, equipping her further for teaching and outreach.
Though she has no children of her own, Ms. Patteson counts it a great blessing to
invest in the lives of the many children entrusted into her care. She has developed a
deep appreciation for Christian classical education through the example of her siblings,
who have faithfully educated their children within this tradition. An active member of St.
Philip’s Church, she delights in travel, reading, time spent outdoors, artistic endeavors,
and visiting her growing family of nieces and nephews.
