
D'Angelo Palmer
Director of Security
D'Angelo Palmer, our Director of Security, is a law enforcement professional and leader with 30 years of dedicated service across municipal, state, federal, and international security domains. Throughout a distinguished career with the Charleston Police Department (1996–2026), he served in critical leadership capacities including Patrol Sergeant, Desk Sergeant, Bomb Technician, and School Resource Officer, consistently managing personnel, coordinating crisis response, and building key community programs such as the annual City of Charleston’s Camp Hope Night camp.
Beyond municipal law enforcement, Mr. Palmer served as a U.S. Department of State assigned International Police Advisor with DynCorp in Iraq, a Law Enforcement Officer with the Pentagon Force Protection Agency, a State Police Officer with the SC State Ports Authority and spent two decades as a Load Master in the U.S. Air Force and Army Reserves.
Mr. Palmer holds a Master of Public Administration from Strayer University and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from South Carolina State University. Mr. Palmer has two children and resides in the downtown area of Charleston SC. He is strongly committed to public service and youth mentorship. Mr. Palmer remains actively involved in community leadership roles as an advisor for local police youth initiatives and various activities throughout the city.
